Lamentations 3:21-26 NKJV

21 This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” 25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. 26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord.

Great is Your Faithfulness!!!! There are several songs, old and new, that declare God's faithfulness. To what are they referring?

The simple answer is that God always does what He says He will do. Faithfulness is one of the fundamental characteristics of Jehovah God, like love and holiness. Please take a few moments to read these statements, read the Scriptures, and meditate on these thoughts about God's faithfulness:

1. Present. God is always present. God is a refuge.

Psalm 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. He promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Hebrews 13:5 AMP for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”

2. God Cannot Lie. Titus 1:2

Who created lying? Not God.

The devil is the father of lies, and he created the language of lies and deception. God cannot lie, and he hates lying. [Proverbs 6:16-21 KJV] 16 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in the running to mischief, 19 A false witness [that] speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

If God cannot lie, then He will do what He has promised to do. Why do we doubt that God will do what He said he would do? Do we doubt that God will do what He promised because we fail to do what WE promise? Do we project our own lack of faithfulness on God?

3. God is faithful to fulfill His callings and His promised provision.

Psalm 37: 1--7 NKJV 1 [A Psalm] of David. Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring [it] to pass. 6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. 7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

.

4. We can trust God for protection Psalm 91

5. We can trust God to be faithful for provision Philippians 4:19; Psalm 37:25

6. Trust God to be faithful for Guidance John 14:16-17; 16:13; Psalm 23:2-3; Isaiah 48:17

7. How about trusting God to be faithful to our obedience? Do we take our obedience and our faithfulness to God as serious as we could, or do we excuse our lack of faith because we don't take God's faithfulness to His Word and His warnings serious?

Do we believe that God is faithful to reward obedience?

Do we believe that disobedience will always result in loss and lack? Disobedience creates condemnation and interferes with our faith. God said that sin brings fear and death.

8. Do we Trust God for justice and restoration? Do we choose to wallow in self-pity: stew in unforgiveness, reel, and stumble in a desire for retribution and revenge, or do we trust that God is faithful to do what is right and just for us?

9. Be there whenever we seek Matthew 7:7-8

10. Accept us as we are - where we are Matthew 7:8; Deuteronomy 4:29;

Jeremiah 29:13-14a

You can count on God.

The faithfulness of God is starkly evident in His relationship with the Hebrew/Jewish people. God made a land covenant with Abraham (patriarch of many nations) and has never withdrawn what He has promised. Though the Jewish people have been scattered around the world, God promised they would return to the land He promised Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all their descendants (Zechariah 8:7-8).

Among God's fulfilled promises was that Israel's people would again become a nation in the land He says is theirs. In May 1948, this prophecy made in the Old Testament was fulfilled. Since then, the Jewish people have been returning home.

More examples of God's faithfulness to keep His covenants with others are found in the following verses:

• To Noah (God will save Noah and his family) – Genesis 6:17-18; 9:9-17

• To Ishmael (God will bless Ishmael and his descendants) – Genesis 17:18-20

• To Moses (God will spare the Israelites if they obey) – Exodus 19:5

• To Jacob (God reaffirms everlasting covenant to Israel) – Psalm 105:10

If you are looking for a reason and a way to praise God today, say, "God is faithful."
